Looking to set up a website?

There are things you need to consider first.

  • Do you have a domain name?  If you don’t, that’s alright, I can point you in the right direction.
  • Do you have web hosting sorted? If you don’t, that’s alright, I can provide this for you.
  • Do you know what content you want on the site, i.e. text and images?  Very important you know what you want to have on your site.
  • Do you know how many pages you want? Some people have a clear idea on this, others don’t.  But it is important for you to think about.
  • Will you be needing a blog?  A blog is a great way to keep fresh new content on your site and will help showcase your expertise in your field. But not everyone has a blog.
  • Will you be needing a shopping cart? And if so, do you have a merchant facility with your bank or an account with Paypal? You need a secure way of collecting payments from clients.
  • Will you be needing to collect email address? If you plan to write a regular blog, newsletter or need the list for something else, a third party option will need to be considered, such as Aweber, Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar.

There are so many things to think about when planning your website, and this is just the beginning.  I have a detailed questionnaire I supply new clients with, to help prompt them with the information I need to get from them in order to develop the site they want.  Check out a previous post I wrote about wanting a website.

And I currently have a pre-Christmas special on.  Webhosting for one year + small website (4 or 5 pages) with the ability for you (the owner) to login and add more pages, and content as you wish.  Not only that, but the site is mobile responsive so it can be viewed on ipads, tablets, and phones easily. And it has a blog facility so you can write and keep your site updated and fresh on a regular basis – without having to wait on your webmaster to do things for you.  All for the price of $550AUD.  The order must be placed by Friday 13th December.  It is ok if you don’t wish to have the site set up till the new year.  Sites will be set up on a first come basis, providing all the content is made available.
